I was a little startled at this morning's city committee meeting when the words in an anti-Hanlon presentation started to sound pretty familiar -- but with a twist.
Presenter Joan Agosta was painting a verbal picture for council of a functioning, modern public transit system that takes people up and down the Hanlon.
Only she was reading a story I'd written this fall. What's more, the story was about Highway 7, not the Hanlon.

Regional Transit continues to suffer. Years and years of talks have gone nowhere fast and the region continues to grow.
What irks me is that the Waterloo area has for a few years not wanted to talk or work with Guelph on this due to that pull out from the CTT. Although they are finally warming up to talking - just a few years later.
Access to and from this city throughout the day is reasonable, however, when you have no way out of the city after 10:30pm there is an issue. The last greyhound to Toronto is at 10:30 (it use to be 11:30 but moved to 11pm then its current time in 2004) And while you an get to Kitchener after midnight, you can't leave till next morning since the last Greyhound back to Guelph is - gasp - 10pm. I have had to leave Storm vs Rangers games early because of this missing the last few mins.
We need that GO bus and train services that provide both local (like on the Hanlon) and regional stops like in the north part of Toronto for example.
Alas, by the time this ever happens, I'll prob get a car.
