The grand opening of the new City Hall has been rescheduled for Sept. 19.
You'll recall the event was supposed to happen last month, but was postponed after a Bishop Macdonell Catholic high school student was killed a few days earlier when a wall collapsed in a city-owned park.
Click here for the press release with the details about the rescheduled celebration.

With all due respect to the families involved in this situation, I find it just a little odd that the grand opening was delayed this long.
Is this an indication that the facility may actually be finished by mid September or is it so that some of the questionable design flaws can be corrected?
Either way, and even if there's nothing funny going on, It's hardly cause for celebration.

The new date for the Grand Opening was chosen to give event organizers time to re-schedule performers, artists and musicians, and to invite Provincial and Federal dignitaries to join in the Official Opening Ceremonies.
Further updates and a full program of the day's events will be posted on http://guelph.ca/grandopening

Golly Stacey, what a revelation. Do you really think that it takes that amount of time to set this kind of Mickey Mouse thing up?
They set up the Jackson tribute in Toronto up in less than 24 hours.
I understand it's your job to blow sunshine up you know where, but how do you sleep at night knowing that most of what you tell people is BS?

Thank you Stacey - your explanation makes sense and is appreciated by those of us who read this blog for information and for respectful discussion, unlike the comments of "t".
It also makes sense due to July and August being a time when many people go on vacation, cottage, camping, etc.
