I will once again by joining Jan Hall, Oliver Rockside and Guelph Politico blogger Adam Donaldson tomorrow morning for the latest instalment of Media at the Mic on CFRU 93.3FM's Beyond the Ballot Box.
We'll talk about a wide variety of city issues, including Peter MacKay's repeated no-shows at Lourdes to collect a national leadership award, transit, full-time versus part-time councillors ... oh, and that budget thingy that's hopefully going to be passed this Wednesday evening.
Tune in between 8 and 9 a.m. and feel free to leave feedback here afterwards.

Scott, have to ask if there is a lapse in connecting the dots to be in favour of full-time councillors and also to have a problem with the proposed Nuisance Bylaw. My two cents on a good show.

Thanks Craig. I'm sure I said I'm not in favour of f-t councillors at this time.

Yep, good clarification. I know you made the point about us not being anywhere near the usual population threshold for FTCs (not to be confused with FTEs!)... and Adam commented on how it can take us down the road to having career politicians. Which we have in the Mayor.
But seriously, a city like Guelph needs career politicians locally?!
So, it again seems like an instance where Guelph is pretending to be comparably bigger than it is, and we have and will continue experience the dysfunction that goes along with that. And to pick up on another word from the show, it's called hubris, and it starts at the top.

Just a reminder, a few years ago Guelph's electorate voted 83% to keep our current ward system. This means that the electorate was 83% against the at-large system for councillors.
