The Sears staffers who lost jobs at the department store's Guelph outlet this week were all managers.
A Sears spokesperson called to advise that no local customer service-focused employees were affected by the national downsizing announced Thursday.
That sort of spin is always unsettling.
Customer service is unlikely to improve somewhere that just thinned out its management to cut costs.
