I'm looking forward to a speaking engagement I'm slated for on Tuesday with the members of the Guelph Wellington Men's Club.
This is a terrifically engaged community -- and a crowd of good media consumers too.
I last spoke to the group around 2007. The topic of that address was focused on how the Mercury was contouring its offerings and layout to be in line with great research and insights from something called The Readership Institute.
So much has changed with the Mercury and industry it is part of since then. On Tuesday, I'll explore what recent market research has indicated to the Mercury's management and how the Mercury's local influence and traction as a print and online information provider can be measured.
I'll also be looking to debunk some myths about the Mercury that are in the community. Many seem to have surfaced since the ending of its in-Gueph printing press in February.
I can't help shaking the concern that I have been invited to meet with the organization on April Fool's Day, however.
