Last time we bucked the trend...

Guelph has voted with the governing party in every election since 1972, when Trudeau was elected federally and Tory Alf Hales represented Guelph. That was the only time in 50 years when Guelph struck out on its own. Of course, the Tories have a minority now, and people are less likely to vote along party lines in a byelection. Still, interesting times.
